On Saturday August 28th, Kate Gould gave a presentation sharing experiences from her eight months volunteering, working, and traveling throughout Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza. She delivered her speech to a packed crowd in the Gresham Room of the Ashland Public Library that was followed by a heated question and answer session illustrating the diversity of perspectives in the room and reminding everyone of the urgency of bringing the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to a just and peaceful resolution.

Benji plans to return to Venezuela to report from the frontlines of the accelerating hostility between US-backed Colombia and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

A group of friends and supporters of Shane Bauer, Sarah Shourd, and Josh Fattal delivered a petition of 150 signatures to the Iranian Interests Section of the Embassy of Pakistan [on August 3rd] in Washington, DC calling for their immediate release. They also delivered a letter signed by scholars and journalists opposing U.S. aggression toward Iran and appealing to both governments to refrain from using Shane, Sarah and Josh as political leverage. Mexico Bleeds: Free Media Against the Invisible Tyranny |

On Sunday, June 27, Yonatan Shapira, an Israeli military refusnic and Eaw Jasiewicz, a Polish activist sprayed 'Liberate All Ghettos' in Hebrew, followed by 'Free Gaza and Palestine' in English on a wall of an original block in the Warsaw Ghetto. In an interview to Indybay Shapira says that: "In our act we tried to separate between the actions of the Israeli Government and Jews.... the lesson that should be learned from the holocaust are resistance to any form of racism and ethnic cleansing".

Buffalo Joins Toronto G8/20 Protests |
Buffalo Forum alongside youth and community activists from Buffalo stood together with tens of thousands of Canadians to denounce the anti-people agendas of the G8/20 in Toronto and stand up for the rights of the peoples. Actions took place from June 21-28 and those against criminalization of dissent are continuing across Canada (see cpcml.ca for more).
Buffalo stood proud during a week of protests, representing the fighting stand of Americans to join with Canadians and all the world’s peoples to say No to the Anti-People Agendas of the G8/20! No to Criminalization of Dissent! One Humanity, One Struggle! By organizing to participate in these actions we took up the duty of Americans to stand against the wars, aggression and militarization of the U.S. and represent the drive of the people for their rights, including their right to govern and decide. Our banners flew high, Defend the Rights of All, No to U.S. Imperialism and U.S. War Crimes, Fight for the Fraternal Unity of the Peoples! Directly participating and being part of the various actions gave expression to this fraternal unity, which develops on the basis of organizing inside the U.S. for the change the people require and standing together with all those worldwide doing the same.

CIMC reporters denied Canadian entry as government steps up massive repression at Toronto G20 protests |
World leaders have gathered for the G8 and G20 meetings in Toronto amidst a massive security crackdown that will mark the most expensive three days in Canadian history. Large swaths of Toronto’s downtown core have the appearance of a police state, with an estimated deployment of over 19,000 security personnel—nearly five times the number at the G20 in Pittsburgh last year. The security price tag is around $1 billion, and some predict the total summit cost will surpass $2 billion. More from Democracy Now! Independent journalists and activists [1 | 2 ] seeking to cross the border have been routinely denied entry, including two Chicago Indymedia journalists who were given the option to either turn back or spend 'weeks' in a Canadian prison.
On June 2nd, 2010, the Ontario provincial government cabinet met secretly to pass a regulation which allows the police to arrest anyone who refuses to identify themselves or agree to a police search within five metres of the G20 security zone in Toronto.

Chicagoan gives chilling eyewitness account of Israeli assault on Gaza aid flotilla |
Chicago Indymedia has just released video testimony from Chicagoan Fatima Mohammadi, a passenger aboard the Mavi Marmara, who gives a chilling eyewitness account of the May 31 Israeli assault on the Gaza aid flotilla, which left 9 dead, scores injured and six unaccounted for and feared dead.
The Youtube video of Fatima's testimony includes recently released video smuggled off the Mavi Marmara — the only video documentation currently available from activists on board the flotilla. Dozens of hours of additional video and thousands of still photos remain in Israeli hands — and the Israeli government has refused to release this material to the world.
Israel imprisoned those passengers that it did not kill or disappear for days after the murderous assault, in an attempt to spin it's violence and illegality to the advantage of the apartheid state. But eyewitness accounts — and video smuggled from the besieged ship by Cultures of Resistance — increasingly put the lie to Israeli distortions.
